Late afternoon meeting with the tour representative for a short welcome briefing followed by an <b>aperitif<\/b> in a spectacular location in the heart of Siena. Dinner (not included) and overnight stay at the hotel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Saturday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Breakfast at the hotel. Then, meet up with the guide and depart for Sovicille to visit the garden of <b>Villa Cetinale<\/b>, better known as the &#8220;citrus garden&#8221;; the <b>Parco della Tebaide,<\/b> and the <b>Romitorio<\/b>, which is connected to the villa by a long avenue of cypress trees and a steep flight of steps, in perfect alignment with the villa, called the &#8220;Scala Santa&#8221;. We will continue along the unpaved road through the woods and arrive at the <b>Castello di Celsa<\/b>. The Celsi nobles, who took ownership in the 15th century, transformed the fortress into a villa in the 16th century to a design by Baldassarre Peruzzi, who is also credited with the design of the circular chapel in the garden below. The villa, which underwent a neo-Gothic renovation in the 19th century, is currently owned by the noble family Aldobrandini. The imposing building, the elegant gardens dating back to the 17th century, and the adjoining park offer visitors an impressive spectacle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Lunch (not included) at one of the typical &#8220;botteghe&#8221; in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Following lunch, we will journey south to visit the <b>borgo di Torri<\/b> and its marvellous cloister, divided into three overlapping orders of loggias. The oldest part, the lower one, dates back to 1189 and is made entirely of white, red, black, and green polychrome marble.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Return to Siena afterwards, with time to freshen up at the hotel before meeting for dinner at a restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Sunday<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Breakfast at the hotel followed by farewells and either free time to continue exploring the city or departure for home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PROGRAM Friday Check-in at the pre-booked hotel upon arrival in Siena.
