The Anatomy Museum of the University of Siena was founded in 2001 and is named after Leonetto Comparini, professor and director of the Institute of Normal Human Anatomy from 1966 to 1997. The Museum offers a tour of the interior of a nineteenth-century Institute of Human Anatomy and displays important teaching tools for the study of the human body.

In one of the first rooms, containing specimens in formalin, you can see preserved foetuses and organs, as well as well-preserved skeletons and many historic scientific instruments. In the bone room there is a nineteenth-century craniological collection of great scientific value. Finally, one room houses several microscopes and a corridor contains glass cases displaying wax models, crania of foetuses and new-born babies, and other specimens.
